Happy Traveller - Season 10 Episode 19 South Italy (Part 1) - Puglia
Overview: Happy Traveler embarks on a road trip in the province of Apulia in Lower Italy. In Part 1 they leave by ship from Igoumenitsa for Bari and start in the southern part of our neighboring country where there is a strong element of Magna Grecia. They stroll through the picturesque old town of Bari and learn how the traditional ear-shaped pasta is made. They drive parallel to the coast and pass through the idyllic Polignano al Mare with its impressive caves. Next stop, Monopoli and the beautiful Alberobello with its characteristic domes. The first overnight stay is in Otranto, also known as "Hydrousa" with its picturesque port. The next day they descend to the tip of the "boot heel of Italy", and then pass through Gallipoli and Lecce, also called the Florence of the South. There they also visit the village of Kalimera, which is one of the Greek-speaking villages of the Salento peninsula, also known as Grecia Salentina.
